ITMR™

A new transport media reagent designed to transport RNA specimens without the concern of infection.

ITMR™ is a safer transport media reagent for specimens collected from humans, animals, and the environment. The mixture of chemicals is a combination of safe materials that comply with safety standards. It is designed to reduce unexpected cross-infection of the contained infectious specimens during global transport.

It has exhibited an inactivation rate greater than 99.5% of the RNA virus HCV while maintaining detectability.

Whole well images of HCV infection

  • 1:10 and 1:300 dilution of DPBS showed comparable TCID50 values

  • The two highest dilutions of ITMR™ concentrate in 1:10 dilution with HCV were completely cytotoxic

  • 1:10 dilution of ITMR™ concentrate decreased ≥630-fold TCID50 value of HCV as compared to 1:10 dilution of DPBS

  • 1:300 dilution of ITMR™ concentrate decreased minimum 14.6-fold TCID50 value of HCV as compared to 1:300 dilution of DPBS

Result: Regardless of the dilution factors, whether DPBS or ITMR™ concentrate, comparable levels of HCV RNA were measured by qPCR indicating that ITMR™ concentrate did not degrade RNAs and/or did not affect RNA stability.
